Seven Days Filled with Joy, The Story of Water Distribution Amid Gaza's Ruins
Distribution Detail
DTPEDULI.ORG | BANDUNG – The late July 2026 sun in the Gaza Strip was not kind. Its rays pierced through fine dust particles of cement floating in the air, reflecting harshly off the gray concrete rubble scattered in pieces.
Clean water is a thin line separating survival and despair. Massive damage to public infrastructure and restrictions on mobility have transformed simple routines into daily physical struggles that drain energy.
Coolness Amid the Summer Heat
When the silver-colored steel water tanker truck from the humanitarian program collaboration of DT Peduli, Nusantara Palestina Center (NPC), and Alsabil Welfare House (AWH) pulled up to the distribution point, the atmosphere became lively. The constant rumbling sound of the tanker engine blended with the rushing sound of water flowing from thick hoses. A sense of coolness instantly spread as water splashes moistened the dry ground, turning dust into thin mud around the feet of waiting residents.
"In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Based on the word of Allah Ta'ala: 'And from water We created all living things', and practicing the hadith of the Prophet Saw: 'The best charity is to give water to drink', today we are distributing drinking water assistance to our brothers and sisters, the refugees in the camps in the northern region of the Gaza Strip..." said a field volunteer on the first day of distribution.
In another corner, a young boy with an innocent gaze stood upright beside jerrycans that had been filled to the brim. With pride and emotion, he held a white board inscribed with "CLEAN WATER FOR PALESTINE - AUGUST 2026". There was no noise of children's games like those his age. There was only focus on bringing home the means of survival for the family waiting behind the thin walls of their tent.
"Thank you, thank you so much for the water. May you always be able to bring it for us, always and always," said a young boy beneficiary with eyes shining with happiness.
For seven consecutive days, from Monday (27/7/2026) to Sunday (2/8/2026), the struggle to distribute life continued without pause. A total of 22 water tanker truck convoys moved every day since dawn, penetrating through building rubble and logistical limitations in Gaza City, North Gaza, to Deir al-Balah in South Gaza.
"These tents cannot protect them from the scorching heat of summer or the cold of winter. We are here to provide this assistance based on the good and noble contribution from Daarut Tauhiid in Indonesia. May Allah bless them and reward them with the best reward, and give them to drink from the rivers of paradise," praised the volunteer on duty on Wednesday (29/7/2026).
The presence of this filtered clean water assistance provided much-needed relief. This free assistance reduced the burden on families and the rising costs of healthcare that are suffocating amid the crisis.
"On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Yayasan Darut Tauhiid provided clean drinking water for refugees and residents in Deir al-Balah City, especially amid this extremely hot weather. So we say, thank you Yayasan Darut Tauhiid (Peduli), thank you Indonesia!" said a volunteer in the southern Gaza region.
In this land filled with sorrow, a drop of clean water is more than just quenching thirst. Clean water that reaches their homes becomes a symbol of care and a bridge of brotherhood.
