DTPEDULI.ORG | MAKASSAR — The Laying Duck Economic Empowerment Program initiated by Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli South Sulawesi (Sulsel) in Sudiang, Biringkanaya District, Makassar City, is beginning to bear fruit. After facing obstacles due to high rainfall that caused many ducks to die, the assisted farmer group has now successfully produced one rack of eggs daily.
This empowerment program is a concrete manifestation of the utilization of productive zakat funds managed by DT Peduli Sulsel. The farmer group is led by Syarief, with members consisting of local orphaned children as direct beneficiaries.
"Alhamdulillah, the zakat funds that you or other donors have given to DT Peduli provide real benefits to me as a beneficiary, as well as to the orphaned children here. Although initially we faced obstacles from bad weather that caused many ducks to die, thanks to the continuous support, we have been able to consistently care for the remaining ducks until now we can produce one rack of eggs per day. This is real proof of independence and the entrepreneurial learning process for the children," said Syarief, Head of the Livestock Group.
The success of this program is a concrete example of how proper zakat management can provide long-term impact on economic independence for the community, especially young people in need.
Head of DT Peduli Sulsel Representative Office, Hasmirah, expressed her appreciation for the perseverance of the livestock group in Sudiang in facing weather challenges.
"We are very grateful to see the development of this program. Our main focus is not just to provide one-time assistance, but to build economic independence for orphaned children. Through this productive zakat fund, we can see real potential from the beneficiaries. Thank you to the donors who have entrusted their zakat through DT Peduli," said Hasmirah.
Currently, the daily egg harvest is directly marketed to residents and nearby shops. The income obtained from egg sales is allocated to help cover education costs and meet the daily needs of the orphaned children.
