Flowing Life Amidst Gaza's Ruins

DTPEDULI.ORG | BANDUNG - The summer sun burned the North Gaza area mercilessly. Among the rubble of destroyed buildings and thick dust rising into the air, rows of yellow and white plastic jerrycans stretched long across the barren ground, on Monday (27/7/2026).

The clean water crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a critical point. Damaged public infrastructure, destroyed water pipeline networks, and high costs to obtain clean drinking water have forced thousands of refugee families to live in uncertainty. In emergency camps standing adjacent to building ruins, water becomes a struggle between life and death.

A young boy with curly hair and a dusty face appeared to be hugging tightly a relief assistance sign. Beside him, a worn yellow jerrycan filled with clean water became the most precious possession that day. With simplicity and sincerity, he offered a smile representing thousands of words of gratitude.

"Thank you, Daarut Tauhiid!" the little child exclaimed with sparkling eyes.

"Thank you...thank you. May Allah bless you for this clean water assistance, may you continue to distribute it for us, always, and forever," he said with warmth.

This clean water distribution activity is the result of humanitarian collaboration between DT Peduli from Indonesia together with Nusantara Palestina Center (NPC) and Alsabil Welfare House (AWH) as local implementing partners in Gaza. This large-scale humanitarian operation was systematically designed to ensure clean water reaches the most isolated and severely affected areas.

On that day, a total of 22 tank truck fleets with a capacity of 7 cubic meters (7,000 liters) each were mobilized in stages. A total of 154,000 liters of clean water was successfully distributed from morning to evening, reaching approximately 30,000 beneficiaries at six strategic locations, namely Al-Wahaidy Camp, Al-Tuffah, Sheikh Radwan, and Al-Saftawi in Gaza City area, as well as Halawa Camp and Al-Faluja in Jabalia, North Gaza.

This clean water distribution directly alleviates the economic and physical burden on refugee families. In addition to meeting basic needs for drinking and sanitation, this assistance enables vulnerable families to allocate their very limited savings for other urgent needs, such as food and medicine.

"We have not been able to distribute clean water for quite some time as it was not possible. Alhamdulillah, Monday became the first day of distributing clean water again from DT Peduli's water factory. In syaa Allah, distribution will be carried out for seven days every month," he explained while showing a calendar and then marking the first seven days of distribution from late July to early August 2026.

Behind the smooth logistics of clean water distribution, there is extraordinary dedication from field volunteers who risk their efforts amid a situation full of danger. In front of a large water tank with a banner reading "Clean Water for Palestine", one of the local volunteers conveyed a warm message and deep prayer:

"Allah Ta'ala says: 'And from water We made all living things.' (QS. Al-Anbiya: 30). And in practicing the hadith of the Prophet ﷺ: 'The best sedekah is giving water to drink.'

Today we are distributing drinking water assistance for our brothers and sisters, the refugees in camps in the North Gaza area. First and foremost by the grace of Allah ﷻ, and then by the support of Yayasan Daarut Tauhiid (Peduli).

May Allah bless them, give them the best reward, and make this good deed a helper (syafaat) for them on the Day of Judgment."

Although the first day's operation has successfully brought joy to 30,000 souls, the need for clean water in the Gaza Strip remains very high. Massive infrastructure damage requires this assistance effort to continue sustainably.
