DT Peduli South Sulawesi Distributes Zakat Funds in the Form of Agricultural Production Packages for Horticulture Farmer Groups in Jeneponto

DTPEDULI.ORG | JENEPONTO - In the midst of Jeneponto's scorching land, new hope is actually growing from a small village called Palajau. Not from rain, but from the trust of zakat channeled to strengthen food security. One horticultural farming group in Palajau Village, Arungkeke District, Jeneponto Regency, South Sulawesi, received agricultural empowerment assistance from Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Peduli Sulsel on Saturday (22/8/2026).

This assistance, sourced from zakat funds, was given directly to the group leader, Subhan, along with four members of his group. The assistance provided consisted of agricultural production equipment packages including cucumber seeds, eggplant seeds, pesticides, and fertilizer. The assistance given is not merely seeds, but an effort to make zakat continue to grow and become empowering. The recipients are farming groups who have been striving to cultivate horticultural land in the coastal area of Jeneponto. The distribution was carried out directly by the Head of DT Peduli Sulsel Representative Office, Hasmirah, accompanied by Program Staff, Fergiawan, at the home of the farming group leader in Palajau Village.

"Alhamdulillah I received assistance, hopefully when I plant it will grow and produce good results. In sha Allah we will maximize this assistance. Thank you DT Peduli for helping our group," said Subhan as the group leader. Meanwhile, Hasmirah emphasized that this program is an implementation of zakat funds for the economic empowerment of mustahik.

"This program is a zakat fund assistance program, so there is great hope that this assistance will continue to grow, with group management that mutually strengthens both faith and agricultural systems. What is also important is that the bonds of kinship among the groups are maintained," explained Hasmirah.

DT Peduli Sulsel wants to ensure that zakat is not only consumed, but becomes a business that continues to grow and strengthens farmer independence. Through this assistance, DT Peduli Sulsel hopes that the farming group led by Subhan can become a model of horticultural food independence in Arungkeke, while also being proof that zakat managed with trust is capable of nurturing life, right in the land where it is planted.
