DTPEDULI.ORG | BANDUNG – The sun had just risen high in the sky of Kinniya, Trincomalee District, Sri Lanka, when a queue of residents began to snake through the yard of one of the local mosques. On faces weary from economic hardship, there flickered a glimmer of hope that had long dimmed. Thursday (28/5/2026) and Friday (29/5/2026) became different days for them. The fresh fishy smell of qurban meat wafted through, bringing warmth that spread to the hearts of hundreds of dhuafa families there.

Seeing such concerning conditions, DT Peduli came to build a bridge of care from pequrban in Indonesia. A total of 5 cattle and 10 goats were slaughtered in the Qurban Impact program of DT Peduli in this region. These qurban animals became an effort to provide nutritious food for them.

The slaughtering process was carried out centrally in a designated area to maintain cleanliness. After being weighed and packed neatly, the logistics of qurban meat were not left to pile up. The field team moved quickly to distribute it to local mosques. Through good coordination with mosque administrators, these meat packages were directly delivered safely and accurately to the hands of families in need.

This qurban distribution targeted Muslim communities living in limited circumstances in Sri Lanka, ranging from the Moor Community, Malay, to converts. Carefully, this nutritious food assistance was prioritized for the most vulnerable groups, namely orphaned children, elderly widows who are the backbone of their families, converts, and refugees from past conflicts who have not yet prospered. In total, approximately 525 families felt the blessing of qurban this year.

"Thank you very much for your help, Brother. We are always looking forward to good news and friendship from all of you," said one of the beneficiaries with deep emotion.
